ATLAS Certification Services
ATLAS Certification provides certification of Quality Management, Environmental Management, Occupational Health & Safety Management and Food Safety Management Systems.
Certification is always issued to a specific Standard (a document containing the certification requirements, such as ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, AS/NZS4801:2001 or Codex HACCP). Certification can be obtained for each of these Standards separately or for a combination of several Standards combined in an Integrated Management System.
The most common Standards to which we provide certification are summarised below.
ISO 9001:2015 certification
An ISO 9001:2015 certificate is an independent confirmation that you have an effective ISO9001 Quality Management System in place that enables you to identify, understand and ensure that you meet customer and regulatory requirements. As such, it is a very powerful marketing tool towards your prospect clients (and often a requirement to even qualify as a supplier to their business).
ISO9001 certification also offers huge advantages within your own organisation. Certified organisations typically report benefits including: improved process efficiency, reduction of waste, increased customer satisfaction & loyalty and last but not least: staff is generally happier in a certified organisation (if you manage to avoid making the QMS too cumbersome that is… but we can help you getting it right!!)
The ISO9001:2015 standard is part of the new family of ISO standards, all set up in a very similar way, to facilitate seamless integration of various types of Management Systems. The underlying principle is often referred to as Plan-Do-Check-Act and the requirements of the standard basically drive an organisation towards embedding these principles into the way they manage the organisation and its processes.
The key to successful implementation of an ISO9001:2015 compliant Quality Management System always comes down to understanding these underlying principles. Once the understanding is there, the actual requirements of the Standard are far less daunting and actually make a lot of sense.
And for the record: ISO9001:2015 is the same standard as AS/NZS/ISO9001:2016.
AS/NZS 4801 & OHSAS 18001 (& ISO45001) certification
AS/NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001 are two very similar standards, both ultimately aimed at the same thing: the promotion of safe work practices and the prevention of injury and illness in the workplace. Both follow the well tested Management System Principles of Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA).
AS/NZS4801 is more popular with businesses working in Australia for mainly Australian clients, whereas OHSAS18001 is better recognized outside of Australia and New Zealand and sometimes required by international organisations working in Australia or contracting Australian businesses overseas.
Both AS4801 and OHSAS18001 will be replaced by the ISO45001:2018-standard. Although there are significant differences between the AS/NZS4801/ OHSAS18001 standards and the new ISO45001, the core principles in relation to identifying, assessing and controlling risk remain unchanged.
ISO45001 is based on Annex SL, the same core structure for Management Systems as ISO9001 and ISO14001 are based on. This enables a seamless integration of Management Systems and promotes a consistent approach across all disciplines.
There is a 3-year transition period for organisations certified to either AS/NZS4801 or OSHAS18001 from the date of publication of the ISO45001:2018, ie. until 13 March 2021.
Codex HACCP is a document that contains the core principles that a Food Safety Management System must comply with to ensure it identifies all factors that may negatively affect the safety of Food products directly or indirectly, either by physical, chemical or (micro)biological contamination.
Once identified, the organisation needs to assess the risk and determine Critical Control Points to ensure threads to Food Safety are pro-actively identified before any harm is done.
A Food Safety certification such as HACCP is increasingly a pre-requisite to operate a business, not only in the Food Industry itself, but also for organisations that are suppliers to the Food Industry such as transport companies, suppliers of packaging materials, food processing/ packaging equipment, warehousing and storage, pest control, etc.
What People Say
“The audit results were constructive and relevant to a small business like ours. Having dealt with several other certification companies it has been refreshing to work with people who understand small business and are providing constructive, realistic feedback”

“When we had to select our certifiers we first looked at the big international providers but quickly found that their response to our enquiries was slow and on top of that they wanted to charge ridiculous money. It was a leap of faith to go with ATLAS Certification, but we are very happy with the choice we made. We highly recommend them to whoever is looking for a reliable, down-to-earth certifier.”
